I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend relaxing, making cards, hiking, going to the beach, or whatever you do that makes you happy. I had family over most of the weekend, but still found time to make a couple of cards.
I am an outdoor person. I love to go to the beach, travel and walk around historical places, go camping and hiking, etc. So, when I saw the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set (16 stamps) last year, I had to have it. Unfortunately right after the order came in, I began to pack and move and it was put in a different place than my other stamp sets. Would you believe I just unpacked the remaining boxes after living here since then? Once I saw my stamp set again, I had to make a card with it!
Since I hadn’t used the set before, I looked on Pinterest and couple of other places on the Internet for some inspiration. I found this awesome card and decided to CASE it (copy and share everything.) After finishing the card, I went back to see who had made it and couldn’t find it anywhere. The card I made is almost identical to the original card, so if you made it or you know who did make it, please let me know so I can give him/her the credit!
I started out with a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card base of Thick Whisper White Cardstock. Next, I cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock to 3-3/4″ x 5″ and lightly sponged some Soft Sky Ink over part of it for a background. I stamped the trees, leaves, and the round image (not sure what it’s called, but I call it a tree trunk) by placing 2 colors of ink on each of the stamps with a Sponge Dauber before stamping them on more Whisper White Cardstock. I used Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive Inks for the trees and leaves, and Soft Suede and Crumb Cake for the tree trunk. Using two colors of ink this way gives your stamped image more dimension. The rooted in Nature Stamp Set also has matching dies called Nature’s Roots, which includes 12 dies. I used the matching dies to cut out my stamped images. Before I added the images to my Whisper White layer, I wrapped a piece of Braided Linen Trim around the layer and tied a knot on the left side. The leaves on the left and the tree on top were adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (I love this glue because it stays wet for a few seconds and you have time to move things around if they’re not straight!) The tree trunk and and the tree on the bottom were raised up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting was stamped in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White and punched out with the Banners Pick a Punch and adhered to the tree root. Then I glued the whole layer to the card base. The last thing I did was color some Basic Rhinestone Embellishments with my Soft Suede Blends and place them around the stamped images.
Look at the detail on these stamped images! The Rooted in Nature Stamp Set is awesome! You can really see it well when you use a Sponge Dauber to place two different colors of ink on the stamps. Make sure to use the Hostess Code when placing your order! The Hostess Code for the month of September is BQEUWTME. Use this Hostess Code when completing your on-line order of $45.00 of more (before tax and shipping) to receive this month’s Hostess gift. Do not use the Hostess Code if your on-line order is $150.00 or more (before tax and shipping). Just email me that you’ve placed your order on-line and I will send you this month’s gift, PLUS you’ll receive Hostess Dollars to purchase product out of any of the current Stampin’ Up! catalogs. This month’s Hostess gift is the Pearl Basic Jewels or clear Rhinestones. I love them because they can be colored with the Stampin’ Blends or permanent markers to make lots of colors! (If you check the “No Contact” when placing your order, I will not have your address and won’t be able to send your gift!) Tomorrow is the last day to use this code and get the rhinestones or pearl embellishments.
