How to Make Your Own Stamps

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all are having a good week. I’m having a busy one, as usual. Today I worked on a couple of Paper Pumpkin kits I haven’t had time to finish and took one of my granddaughter’s school shopping.

In yesterday’s post, I mentioned I had made a couple of my own stamps and would share them with you today.  I saw several videos of other demonstrators making them using the Butterflies Thinlits Dies, so I had to try it myself. They were so easy to make-I was finished in about 10 minutes!

I bought a sheet of foam with adhesive on the back of it and cut it to 5-1/2″ wide so it would fit through my Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. I placed the die on the foam and ran it through. Classy Cut-ups Creations

You will need to cut out 2 or 3 depending on how thick the foam is because you want the stamp to be deep enough that it inks well. I took an older clear block and placed the first foam die-cut on it. (Use a block you don’t need anymore.) I saw that it was not high enough off the block so I added a second die-cut butterfly on top of the first one, which was perfect. They stuck together firmly and I couldn’t wait to use my new stamps!

After a trial run on some scrap paper, I saw they were stamping beautifully and was ready for the real test!

Butterfly Thinlits Dies

I stamped the largest butterfly on a piece of Whisper White Card Stock in Rich Razzleberry Ink and then stamped the smaller one around it. They were perfect! I layered this piece on a card made with Pink Pirouette Card Stock. Next, I cut a large butterfly out of Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered it to the card front with Glue Dots. The Basic Rhinestones were colored with a pink permanent marker (Yes, you can change the colors of them!) and placed on the Classy Cut-ups Creationsbutterfly.  Guess where I got the white tag for the greeting…I cut it out with one of the dies from the new Lots of Labels Framelits Set. Once it was die-cut, I trimmed off the bottom and top edges approximately 1/4″ so it would fit on a Pink Pirouette layer that was punched out with the Decorative Label Punch.

I love it when I find different ways to use my stamps, punches, and dies.  I am out 2 blocks, but it’s well worth it to have these 2 butterfly stamps! I know I will be using them a lot.

We used the stamps to make this card in my card making class on Monday and everyone loved them! Now to find more dies out of my stash that I can use to make stamps!
