Hello! I hope you all have had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend! I went to a parade this morning…Nothing makes my heart swell like it does standing and honoring the American Flag and our soldiers and veterans (except for my family, of course!) We had a great time, then went to the beach for a picnic. Now, let me tell you, if you’ve never been to the beach in Maine in May you don’t know what you’re in for! The weather changes from minute to minute. It was sunny and warm when we left, but by the time we got to the beach it was cold and cloudy. We stayed long enough for the hotdogs to cook on the grill and for us to eat them! The air conditioner was on in the car on the way there, but the heater was on on the way back! I can’t wait to get back home to Florida so I can thaw out!
Ok, on to my card…I made a shabby chic card for a challenge over at Our Creative Corner. I also made it so it satisfied challenges at Just Us Girls and Unscripted Sketches. I’m
teaching my daughter-in-law how to make cards, so we’ve been using some of the challenges so she can get used to them.
The card base is Bashful Blue Card Stock (105120), cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and folded at 4-1/4″. I used my Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (120175), which was inked on one side with Bashful Blue Ink (126961), a mat of Whisper White Card Stock (100730), and ran it through the Big Shot (113439) to make the second layer of my card. I cut out 2 strips of Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper (122357) with my Lace Ribbon Border Punch (122362) and adhered them under both long edges of another strip, which was torn and sponged along the edges. I placed it across the center of the card. The greeting is from the Tea Shoppe Stamp Set (wood-125545; clear-125547). It was stamped in Crumb Cake Ink (126975) onto a label of Whisper White Card Stock. The Whisper White was matted with another label cut from Bashful Blue with one of the dies from the Labels Collection Framelits Dies (125598). The large flower was made with 6 Whisper White scallops cut out with the 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch ( 119854). The edges of the scallop circles were sponged with Bashful Blue Ink before they were made into the flower and Dazzling Details Glitter Glue (124117) was added to the edges of the petals when the flower was finished. The small Bashful Blue flowers were all punched out with the tiny scallop circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (118309) and a Basic Pearl (119247) was adhered in the middle of each one. By the way, Basic Pearls only come in white, but they can be made any color with permanent markers!
I hope you like the card. Purchase any of the items used to make this card by clicking on the “Order Stampin’ Up! Online” button in the right column now! Some of them will be retiring in just a couple of days.
